Kherson people honored the memory of Taras Shevchenko

   Exactly 198 years have passed from the birth of the great Ukrainian genius Taras Grigorievich Shevchenko. Not every nation may boast of such a beacon of culture, art and the national spirit. Shevchenko is not only a poet, a prose writer and a painter. Even now, when so many years passed, there is "Kobzar" almost in every home and a portrait of the Great Son of the Ukrainian nation one may often see as an icon.
   On March 9 many Kherson people gathered to put flowers at the monument of the Great Kobzar. Both government representatives and social organizations were present at the meeting. Words of welfare and gratitude were said in the memory of Taras Shevchenko. Ustin Maltsev, the head of a charity fund, said that Shevchenko is a symbol of faith, hope and responsibility. If our society not only listened but also heard his admonitions, we would have totally different life and processes in our country. Understanding comes after learning.
   Taras Shevchenko museum was branched out on the basis of Kherson school with advanced learning of Ukrainian language № 52 few days ago. Pupils collected goods of traditional Ukrainian crafts, investigated the life of people of different regions of Ukraine under the supervision of the teacher of ethnography Elena Golikova.
   All this means that Ukraine remembers its heroes and will keep memory of them for many centuries. So many years have passed, still every child knows about the titanic work of Taras Shevchenko. Only having such examples, we may grow the nation with healthy body and spirit. Our common task is to give this knowledge to the next generation
